Over the past half-century, there has been little opportunity for Indian and Chinese scholars to reach across disciplines and borders to study relations between their two countries. Since our founding in 2004, ICI has supported thirty-three scholars and professionals, as well as twenty students with our signature India China Institute Fellowship Program.
The India China Fellowship Program provides scholars and experts from the U.S., India, and China with the academic, financial, and professional support needed to focus on trilateral exchange. In essence, ICI creates an academic space for these fellows to work together across borders, contributing to our edited volumes and interactive web platforms, and participating in round-table discussions and conferences around the world.
Additionally, ICI launched the Ford Foundation supported India-China Knowledge & Capacity-Building Initiative with a cohort of twelve graduate students from India, China, and the U.S.The inaugural Ford Fellows Program took place during the Summer of 2010 and was a great success, bringing together 12 students from the three Universities to work on a variety of projects and exchange ideas on topics ranging from women in higher education to economic stability.
