The following interactive map shows the route of ICI’s fall 2014 research trip in Nepal. This trip focused follows the route from the district capital of Simikot west to the Tibetan border town of Hilsa, and then up through several villages in the Upper Limi Valley area. The Limi Valley area is unique due to its strong Tibetan cultural influence which has largely remained undisturbed compared to adjacent areas under Chinese control in the Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR). Limi Valley is a special access area in Nepal requiring travel permits for outsiders. This map shows the route our research group followed, and highlights some of the scenes and sights we encountered along the trail.
