As part of our new Sacred Himalaya Initiative, the India China Institute, along with some of our network of scholars and researchers in Nepal, spent several weeks in the far western district of Humla in Nepal. The trip was designed to help advance this new initiative, explore possible locations for future fieldwork as part of this Initiative, and complete part of our larger field visit plan to the three border regions in China, Nepal and India that are connected to sacred Mount Kailash. Here are a few photos from this recent trip that capture a bit of the landscape and culture of this remote area in Nepal.
