ICI Blog Posting Instructions

 Step 1:

Go to www.indiachinainstitute.org

Step 2:

Click on the Log in/Log out menu, which is in the upper right-hand side of the page, and click Log in. Enter your username and password to login. If you do not have an account yet, or have problems accessing your account, please contact ICI for assistance.

Step 2: Login

Step 3:

Once you have logged in, click the + New link at the top of the screen and select Post from the options. This will take you to a new blank page where you can start writing your blog post.

Step 3: Create a New Post

Step 4:

Once you have created a new blank post, enter a title for your blog post.  Try to keep the title short, ideally less than 8 words. (For example, “Fieldwork Updates from New Delhi” or “Reflections on Interviews in Shenzhen”.) Now click the Save Draft button. Your post is now saved as a draft. Do not click the Publish button, we will do that at the very end. Once you have saved the draft post, you can continue writing. We suggest clicking the Save Draft button every few minutes just to be safe, so you do not lose your work in case of a power or internet failure.

* Important: Under the Categories menu on the right, check the boxes for ‘China India Scholar-Leaders (2017-19)’ and ‘Blog’.  This will ensure your posts show up under the Fellows blog feed on the ICI homepage, and will automatically put all Fellows post together under the same category.

Feel free to add any relevant Tags below this in the “tag” menu. Tags are usually 1-2 word themes, such as “climate change”, “China”, and “Urbanization”. Remember to save your draft again. If you would like to add any photos, simply click on the “Add Media” button on the top of the editor menu, or select Insert-> from the editor menu. You can add single images or a gallery of images. There are various options to display your images, including the size, format, order and style.

Step 5:

Once you have finished writing your draft post, scroll down to the “Featured Image” box on the lower right side of the page. Click on Add Featured Image, and either browse to one of your uploaded images (if you added photos earlier), or browse to where your saved picture are on your phone or computer, select a featured image, and upload it to the website. Once it is uploaded, select the Insert Featured Image option in the lower corner of the screen.  After a moment you should see a thumbnail of the image. Be sure to save your draft post again!

Step 6:

Once you have your post saved, your tags and categories selected, images added, and a featured image selected, you are ready to submit your post. If you still want to make more changes, but need to come back to the post later, don’t worry. Just save your post and then you can come back again later and edit it.

If you are ready to go, then you can click the Publish button. That’s it. Congratulations!

If you need to make any changes, you can click the Edit button in the top menu, or on the top of any individual post page, to make revisions to the published post.
