Since our founding in 2005, ICI has supported hundreds of scholars, professionals, and students through a variety of grants, fellowships, and initiatives. Additionally, New School students are also employed in important roles in our New York office.

TNS Student Employment

The India China Institute (ICI) is seeking a student worker for a part-time position.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • assist in coordinating public programs, including creating event pages, marketing campaigns, booking spaces, arranging catering and honoraria;
  • submit expense reports and navigate platforms for reservations, receipts and reconciliations (MyDay, Concur);
  • manage correspondence with fellows, invited guests, event audience, students and faculty, administrators and colleagues, newsletter subscribers, etc.;
  • Design monthly newsletter using Mailchimp;

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with WordPress
  • Experience with Mailchimp, Splash, event organization
  • Experience with Google Suite

An ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently but also is comfortable collaborating with multiple team members, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to multitask.

Both graduate and undergraduate students (Including Federal Work Study students) are welcome to apply. The candidate should have at least one year left before graduation. The salary for this position is commensurate with experience, with minimum student wages of $15 per hour. This position may have high and low weeks of work. It demands an average of 15-20 hours per week.

TNS Postdoc Positions

The India China Institute occasionally posts notices for post-doc positions to help coordinate our grant-funded projects. These are typically one to two-year positions and involve a mix of teaching, research and program development and support.

Visiting Scholars

The India China Institute hosts a number of distinguished visiting scholars from India and China to support the scholars’ academic advancement, and contribute to the intellectual discourse at the Institute through their public engagement.
